For over 13 years, Petteri Tiainen has been a cornerstone of Tana’s development efforts, contributing to machine control systems and the foundational stages of TANA ProTrack ®, Tana’s legacy fleet management system. As TANA ProTrack ® approached the end of its lifecycle, Tana recognized the need for a more integrated, future-ready solution. This led to the development of TanaConnect®.

“The vision for TanaConnect® was ambitious,” Petteri explains. “We wanted a service portal that consolidated all systems for customers and Authorized Tana distributors – fleet management, spare parts, learning materials, and more – into a single user-friendly platform.”

At its heart, TanaConnect® was created to serve as an all-encompassing hub designed to streamline operations and ensure maximum uptime for the TANA machines. TANA ProTrack ®, now integrated as the fleet management component within TanaConnect®, continues to provide essential monitoring and management capabilities. This integration enhances data usability, scalability, and decision-making processes, offering seamless support for both customers and Tana’s technical teams while maintaining the trusted features of TANA ProTrack ®.

According to Petteri, TanaConnect® is designed to evolve. “We’re building a strong foundation now so that we can layer advanced features like predictive maintenance and subscription models for parts directly within the platform.”

Bringing TanaConnect® to life hasn’t been without its hurdles. One of the key decisions was whether to adopt an existing system or build one from scratch. Ultimately, Tana chose the latter. “While commercial solutions were considered, none offered the flexibility and deep integration we needed,” Petteri explains. “Building our own system was labor-intensive, but it allowed us to align the platform perfectly with Tana’s needs.”

The future of TanaConnect® is bright, with several exciting developments on the horizon. Petteri envisions features such as predictive maintenance, streamlined dealer operations and customizable user experiences.

One of the platform’s standout possibilities lies in lifecycle management. By integrating machine usage data into CRM systems, Tana could notify customers when it’s time to consider upgrades, new purchases, or specific maintenance services.

When asked what keeps him motivated, Petteri points to the potential of TanaConnect®. “The possibilities for TanaConnect® to revolutionize how we support our customers and drive business growth. That’s what inspires me.”
