Shredder for demanding materials
More than ten years ago, Hopley Group watched a TANA Shark shred heavy steel and massive timber with ease. This convinced Group Director Justin Hopley and the team. The Shark was the right machine for their demanding Bendigo-based demolition and recycling operations.
The first TANA Shark arrived in 2014 and delivered reliable performance for the next decade.
“It just goes to show – we ran the machine for 10 years and still got a good chunk of our money back,” Justin Hopley says. “It was still in perfect condition really. We kept it in good order, but you only have to do a bit of welding on the teeth and stuff to keep them up to speed.”
Hopley Group’s waste stream is diverse, ranging from timber flooring and weatherboards to tyres, mattresses, and even tree stumps. They demolish houses, commercial buildings, and industrial facilities before bringing the material to their recycling site, where the team recycles everything.
For their diverse waste streams, a versatile heavy-duty shredder is a must. The Shark’s aggressiveness and ability to handle the toughest waste streams made it a standout in the market. That’s why they purchased their second Shark in 2026 after selling the first.
“The shredder shreds green waste, C&D (construction and demolition) waste, weatherboards, flooring, carpet, mattresses, and tyres; it’ll just about shred anything,” Hopley says.
